COUNSELING

In its 25 years of service to Filipino families, RMT-CEFAM has established itself at the forefront of Couple and Family Counseling in the Philippines. We provide a safe, healing place for families, couples, and individuals who seek relief from distress in their relationships as well as guidance and support in dealing with challenging life transitions and crises. We team up with our clients in assessing their capabilities and needs in order to facilitate the restoration of their wellbeing.

RMT-CEFAM pastoral counseling is based on a psycho-spiritual approach that integrates knowledge and expertise from the behavioral sciences, aligns with the Filipino ethos, and is inspired by purposeful reflection on the transformative power of authentic love, justice, and peace. As such, RMT-CEFAM pastoral counseling is a values-based professional service provided by competent and caring Counselors who have undergone ample preparation in terms of academic and skills training as well as personal formation. RMT-CEFAM Counselors select from a variety of counseling approaches to address the specific needs of our clients. In our work, we value our clients’ empowered participation in their own process of regaining hope and perspective in their lives.

RMT-CEFAM counseling services include:

  • Counseling for premarital, marital, separating, and co-parenting couples

(Note: “Premarital counseling” is different from marriage preparation in that its general goal is to focus on relational problems. RMT-CEFAM provides marriage preparation through its CANA Cluster.)

  •          Individual and conjoint counseling for adult, adolescent, and child family members
  •          Group counseling focusing on specific family issues
  •          Restorative counseling for family counselors and care-givers

(Note: RMT-CEFAM policy does not permit RMT-CEFAM Counselors to act as expert witnesses in judicial proceedings.)

The RMT-CEFAM Counseling Staff also includes consulting psychiatrists, psychologists, and acupuncture detoxification specialists who work closely with our couple and family Counselors.

Offered as a pastoral ministry, RMT-CEFAM counseling services operate on a donation-basis, with no set fees charged. Clients should not be discouraged from availing themselves of RMT-CEFAM counseling because of financial limitations. On the other hand, clients are encouraged to donate according to their financial capability as a way of helping RMT-CEFAM to continue providing subsidized counseling services to those in need.

Counseling sessions are scheduled by appointment (see the contact information below). Clients are requested to arrive 15 minutes earlier than the appointed time of their first session in order to read our counseling guidelines and to fill up information forms.
